Photos of my travels around New Zealand and beyond…

Heat

Many people in New Zealand put electric blankets on their beds in Winter. In the old days, technology safety wise wasn’t the best with these but nowadays there are high standards involved when making them. We put ours on the bed usually in Autumn when it starts to get chilly and take it off in Spring. Also we have a comforter and a thick blanket on too which work well but the blanket is so heavy and king sized that it doesn’t fit in our washing machine so I usually take it to one of the local laundromat’s to wash in their giant machines each Spring.

This photo was one of the display windows off an Appliance shop in town.

I love my electric blanket! I’m as snug as a bug in a rug 😅 with a duvet on top.

  2. We can only dream of nights so cold that they warrant electric blankets. 🙂

  3. We have some wool blankets that keep us nice and toasty.

  4. I can’t imagine not having a few favourite blankets. Just sayin.

  5. I’d probably get too hot with an electric blanket. It never really gets cold where I live anyway.

  6. …our first house was an old farm house with no heat in the bedrooms, we had an electric blanket!

  7. In Finland nobody uses electrick blankets. Our rooms are heated so no need to.

    1. You’re lucky, New Zealand is one of those countries where there is no central heating, we have fireplaces, heaters or heatpumps to warm inside.

  8. Good.

Amy I certainly do NOT need an electric blanket at any time of the year! Have a lovely week ahead

  11. I have a polar fleece blanket that keeps me warm in winter.

  12. I think I’d die with any additional heating. The duvet is too much even on the coldest nights (but Mr B have the most underactive metabolism imaginable and constantly complains of cold).
