Jade

Here in my region, it’s known as Jade country. Sometimes when we visit some of the local beaches, we find small bits and pieces of Pounamu aka Jade. There are quite a few people who carve from it , I have a friend who made me a pendant for my grand daughter as I gave her a spare laptop we had for her business so we did a swap but buying it can be expensive.

Is anyone else having trouble with Blogger today? I’m trying to leave comments on lots of blogs and for some reason it won’t let me, hopefully I can visit you all soon.

Hari Hari

This is the main street into Hari Hari which is a small settlement on the West Coast, it has an approximate population of 250 people and is mostly a farming town, it takes us about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get there, we have driven through here probably 2 times in the last 4 years. The town does tend to get some heavy rain, flooding and snow on the mountains.

This week Whitebait season has started, I’ve heard stories about fishermen this week. Apparently one parked his truck on the sand here in Greymouth but forgot about the tide so the water took his truck away and the other one parked his bus on the road next to the beach in Hokitika but forgot to put the brake on so it went off by itself into the ocean.

We have a week of rain due, typical for Spring so I’ve planted pumpkin seeds I saved up from last season in plant pots in B’s greenhouse and when it gets warmer I will transplant them out into the vegetable garden. I also had ordered some mixed Dahlia seeds online so they got planted in a pot too. Hopefully I will have a high percentage of growth.
